June 2009 - Great Lakes Energy People Fund Hospice of Little Traverse Bay has received a $3,500 grant from the Great Lakes Energy People Fund. This grant will be used to purchase a CADD pump. A CADD pump is a portable pump that dispenses medication for pain management when other methods of providing comfort have failed. CADD pumps enhance a patient’s ability to control their own pain management, which improves their quality of life. With pain under control it alleviates the fear of dying in pain for both the patient and their family. Hospice of Little Traverse Bay’s goal and mission is to provide comfort, support, and end-of-life care as we would our own loved ones. Having CADD pumps available for use with more patients directly impacts our mission, with pain under control we are able to provide our patients the comfort, support and end-of-life care they deserve. Hospice is not a place but a philosophy of care that provides pain management, symptom control, psychosocial support, and spiritual care to patients and their families. Hospice of Little Traverse Bay serves Emmet, Charlevoix, Antrim, Cheboygan, and Otsego Counties, and has a seven room hospice house, Hiland Cottage located in Petoskey. For more information regarding Hospice of Little Traverse Bay call 231.487.4825. This grant was made possible because members of Great Lakes Energy support the People Fund by voluntarily rounding up their bills to the next highest dollar. The rounded up amount is distributed to non-profit organizations and charitable activities that benefit people in the communities served by the cooperative. Please contact Great Lakes Energy at 231.582.6521 for more details on how you can participate in the People Fund. Visit Great Lakes Energy website at www.gtlakes.com. |
